WeeHands in NC!

So please and honoured to welcome our newest WeeHands Instructor, Patti Overman!

Patti Overman is a graduate of Wilson Community College, Wilson NC where she earned her A.A.S in Interpreter Education, May 2009. She is a member of Phi Theta Kappa and graduated Dean's List with Distinction. Patti has 3 grandchildren, all of whom are learning to sign. Patti has goals to earn her BA in Deaf Studies in the near future. Patti is active in the Deaf community, organizing social events for Deaf and Hearing alike and has plans to obtain her Interpreter License in the state of North Carolina.

Patti states, "American Sign Language is such a valuable asset to Deaf and Hearing alike. In my experience, teaching young children to sign reduces frustration and opens up a child's world of communication! How amazing to see a child sign for the first time, the huge smile when he realizes he's able to make his needs known. As that child's vocabulary grows, he's learning a skill that will open up a whole new culture later in life!"
