This winter's 1,2,3 Sign with Me pilot preschool enrichment program was a great success!We piloted our weekly 30 minute sessions in 20 child care centres and Montessori schools in Durham Region and the children, staff, parents and our student instructors loved it! I am overwhelmed by the response that our new little program received!
The idea and objectives for the WeeHands 1,2,3 Sign with Me preschool enrichment program were first developed in 2007 by WeeHands founder and author of The Baby Signing Book, Sara Bingham and Mary Ierullo, who holds a Masters of Science in Special Education from Northeastern University in Boston, MA. The 1,2,3 Sign with Me program was plotted this winter by 3 Communicative Disorders Assistants students within Durham College's graduate certificate CDA program.
The 1,2,3 Sign with Me program for preschool children consists of 9 themed units, each of which include four 30 minutes sessions...perfect for one session a week for a full school year of classes in child care centres and Montessori schools.
