Interactive Games with Baby

Interactive games like “Peek-A-Boo” and “This Little Piggy Went to Market" are great games to play with baby. Each game is listed below and the words in capitals can be signed.

Peek-A-Boo: hide your face, e.g., behind your hands, and pop back into your baby's view, and sign/say to your baby's amusement: Peek-a-boo! I SEE you!

This Little Piggy Went To Market:

This little PIGgy went to MARKET.
This little PIGgy stayed at HOME.
This little PIGgy had ROAST BEEF (MEAT),
This little PIGgy had NONE.
And this little PIGgy went "Wee! Wee! Wee!" all the way HOME

The nursery rhyme is usually counted out on your baby’s toes; the five lines of the rhyme correspond to a different toe, starting with the big toe. When signing the rhyme touch your baby’s foot when you say “This little…” and sign/say the words in capitals. A foot tickle is usually added during the “Wee! Wee! Wee!" section of the last line.

When you’ve played these games with your baby and it seems that they’ve enjoyed the game, then sign/say “MORE” and pause. If you little one doesn’t sign “MORE” back yet (and he will eventually!), start the game again and play it again for as long as you are both having fun!
